As part of a major £7.5 million residential scheme for Basildon Council, Davis Construction South East Ltd has delivered 48 one and two bedroom apartments at Cricketers Court. Located in Basildon, Essex, this design and build project focuses on creating high-quality, affordable housing while supporting sustainability, resident wellbeing and community safety.

urbanspec was specified by Ingleton Wood, the project’s design consultants, to supply external storage infrastructure aligned with Secured by Design (SBD) standards, essential for a scheme prioritising security and long-term crime prevention.

Known for delivering sustainable and community-focused developments across the public and private sectors, Ingleton Wood specified urbanspec for the proven performance, aesthetic adaptability and ease of specification of our systems.

This scheme is a great example of the confidence consultants place in our systems and ability to advise from the design stage.

Project Requirements

The new development includes dedicated parking with 12 EV charging points and secure cycle storage for residents, alongside an ecology strategy introducing bat boxes, bug hotels and hedgehog highways.

High standards in external works were critical to ensure both functionality and alignment with the site’s overall quality benchmarks, which also earned the project top marks (45/45) from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Project Outcome

The combined installation offers robust, weather-resistant facilities that integrate well with the development’s aesthetic and functional requirements. By choosing SBD-accredited bin and cycle stores, the team has delivered a compliant and secure environment that supports sustainable travel and responsible waste management.

Cricketers Court stands as a strong example of how thoughtfully designed external infrastructure can support wider goals in affordable housing, from sustainability to community safety. We were proud to be specified by Ingleton Wood and to contribute from the design stage, to a scheme that reflects the very best in collaborative, quality-led delivery.
