Bin room buildings ensure low visual impact of bins on high profile business park

Kier Group plc are a leading property, residential, construction and services group; investing in, building, maintaining and renewing the places where we work, live and play. They operate across a range of sectors including defence, education, housing, industrial, power, transport and utilities.  When global technology company ARM unveiled plans to dramatically increase their headcount they wanted to ensure plans to expand their Cambridge HQ were in safe hands.  Kier Group won the £48 million redevelopment contract to provide 18,000 m2 of Grade A office space and two multi-storey car parks alongside the existing buildings.

The production of waste in any densely-populated area is certain.  The effective management and efficient disposal of it is critical if that community is to function properly.  Half-measures will have serious repercussions if the important but easily overlooked function of waste management is not properly grasped at the planning stages.   A well-managed, carefully devised waste streaming system should be an investment that pays for itself; reducing waste disposal costs and unnecessary repair and maintenance bills.

For this project HB wasteSTOR™ was specified with western red cedar cladding option arranged in a horizontal configuration, allowing the design to blend into surroundings; a key consideration for this project, being developed on a green belt site.
