Situated off Britain’s integral M3 corridor, V Park is the site of 3 new speculatively developed warehouse facilities by Panattoni, Europe’s largest developer of logistics property. Operating for close to 40 years, the company’s client list includes more than 2,500 regional, national and international companies, including Amazon, Audi and Evri.

V Park sits 2 miles from the centre of Basingstoke, serving markets across London, Southampton and most of the South East, operating from an established industrial location that benefits from access to public transport links and amenities. The site is a high-standard development that has been built to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, alongside an EPC rating of ‘A+’. The utilisation of net-zero carbon technology, such as rainwater management, EV charging points and PV solar panelling, demonstrates a pragmatic approach to sustainability; prioritising energy efficiency and reduced operating costs.

To supply amenities to Unit 3, a building offering 96,615 sq. ft. of prospective warehouse and office space, urbanspec worked with Main Contractors, Buckingham Group Contracting, to establish a sheltered bike parking facility for on-site staff and visitors to V Park.

3no. urbanspec CST Single Row Asymmetric Bike Shelters were specified with capacity configurations to provide a series installation, with add-on bays incorporated in a single row format. These were combined with urbanspec T2 Gas Assisted Lift & Lower Bike Racks to optimise the available footprint and provide secure bike parking for 124 individual bikes.

urbanspec T2’s are manufactured around a highly durable, fully-welded steel chassis, forming the support frame for the rack’s upper tiers. Parked bikes are held securely within a galvanised steel wheel tray that provides precise tracking for each individual bike.

The structures offer clean architectural style on the V Park site, supplementing the design of the commercial industrial environment and surrounding warehouse buildings. The radius steel support structure is combined with UV protected polycarbonate roof panels and an aluminium glazing system that provides cost-effective protection from inclement weather, alongside an extensive service life.

Working with a single-source supplier enables a complete external works project scope. urbanspec’s proven product systems are designed, developed and manufactured in our UK-based factories, ensuring ready availability and short lead times with product configurations made from stock components.

By establishing a secure and sheltered facility for bike parking, the urbanspec CST Bike Shelter helps to encourage a sustainable mode of travel for staff and visitors, with the incorporation of on-site shower facilities for cyclists offering further benefits, especially in the event of inclement weather. Moreover, these sustainability features are in-line with V Park’s goal of targeting a net-zero carbon development.
