Brewers Hill, Dunstable
Brewers Hill, a residential scheme in Dunstable, has had urbanspec R-Series external storage units installed throughout the new development. Utilising a brownfield site close to the town centre, this new development has provided Dunstable with much-needed affordable housing.
With sustainable infrastructure a key consideration, urbanspec RC cbike lockers enable residents to take advantage of sustainable forms of transport with the assurance of easily accessible and secure storage at home. The urbanspec RB units help residents secure their bins to reduce fire risk, making it easy for them to recycle properly and minimise waste.
Main Contractor Lovell Partnerships has installed over 50 of the urbanspec R-Series units at Brewers Hill, consisting of 12 urbanspec RB bin lockers and 38 urbanspec RC Bike Lockers. Providing valuable external storage capacity for residents, R-Series products are design coordinated ensuring bin and cycle storage achieve the desired aesthetic continuity.
There are significant advantages to the modular design and off-site manufacture of urbanspec external storage units. The availability of skilled trades, coupled with increasing costs of building materials, drives contractors and specifiers to carefully weigh options in terms of cost and lead time. The bin and cycle stores had been designed as masonry and timber construction on the Brewers Hill scheme, but Lovell Partnerships opted for urbanspec RC and RB storage units with the substantial cost savings that could be achieved from a modular product system.
The all-steel construction of urbanspec RC bike lockers, with internal security fixings and high specification locking mechanisms minimises the risk of theft. Integral sliding doors on both bin and cycle stores ensure the minimum operational footprint is achieved. urbanspec RB bin locker follow an identical design format to the RC model, featuring the same low-profile design form with premium colour coated steel cassette panels to integrate with the modern architecture of the scheme.
